Instead of the bearings sitting inside the frame shell directly, PF30's bearings are inserted into plastic cups that are easier to press into the frame. The PF30 system allows adding an integrated sealing system, which helps prolong bearing life. With the plastic cups, the PF30 bottom bracket frame shell has a diameter of 46mm (compared to a BB30 42mm) and the same width, 68mm for Road or 73mm for MTB. The PF30 system is compatible with BB30 cranks; from the outside of the frame shell, you only see a narrow plastic edge, while you won't spot it on a BB30 standard frame.
